Nestled in the breathtaking central highlands of Sri Lanka, Soranathota is a charming agricultural village home to around 650 families. Surrounded by misty mountains, terraced paddy fields, gushing streams, and lush tea plantations, the village offers a peaceful, nature-rich environment perfect for eco- and agro-tourism. Soranathota is steeped in cultural heritage and warm hospitality. According to legend, its name “Soranathota” — meaning “Ferry Without Thieves” — originates from a tale of King Walagamba, who once lost royal jewelry in the area. When the honest villagers returned it to him, the king honored their integrity by giving the village its unique name.
